Kingdom Work

It’s the baskets of laundry you load and fold.

It’s the warm meals you prepare.

It’s the favorite blankets that you know they want, before they ask.

It’s the knowing of words not fully formed because you’re with them and you’ve learned what they are trying to say.

It’s the “lift me ups” even though they can walk.

It’s rising before the sun and hitting the pillow hours after it sets.

It’s refilling water cups, and making the lists

Each day is a tape played over and over, your life on repeat.

Small details change but the foundation of your routine is solid.

It’s refilling water cups, and making the lists

Each day is a tape played over and over, your life on repeat.

Small details change but the foundation of your routine is solid.

Don’t mistake this foundation for dread of the unchanging,

Don’t call this day the same as the rest because it is not, they grew taller today, learned a new word, they saw a new part of themselves and the world as they knew it, changed.

This never ending foundation is their safe haven, and you, their lighthouse-it’s where they reset, it’s where they find support and stability, it is their home.

The parts of our lives and our days that we write off as ordinary are actually fantastic.

The tiny hands you’re holding will not stay tiny.

The meals you’re preparing are deeply valued.

Your presence in their lives is invaluable.

Today is an expression of your heart in your hands,

The work within these walls is precious,

Your role here is significant,

Know this, root it deep into your soul, because today you finished another day of

Kingdom Work.
