There are moments in my life that I feel so close to God that if it were possible, I could reach up and grasp the hands of his and step into heaven—this was one of those moments. Standing in a sea of souls who had joined together to be in this heavenly presence that filled every corner of the room.
Experiencing these moments has been monumental in growing my faith. Sitting with God, listening, worshiping, crying out and waiting for the voice of peace to answer. It is a sacred space where I feel at home, my soul is full and my heart is overflowing. Worship music, for me, has always had that affect.
It’s an inter session into a conversation with God and it gives me vision for the future.
Recently I heard “Sunday is Coming”—Phil Wickham. The song lays out the story of Jesus’ journey from Good Friday to Sunday morning, through the process of events that lead to his crucifixion and also his resurrection.
“Friday’s good cause Sunday is coming. Don’t lose hope cause’ Sunday is coming. Devil you’re done, you better start running. Friday’s good but Sunday is coming.”
I wonder how many of us are in a season that looks like that Friday—Death. Failure. The end of something that once was beautiful. Remember, none of Jesus’ followers knew that this would EVER be a Good Friday. To them, this was the end and that was especially hard as they had left behind their lives, families and careers to follow the son of God and now he was being taken to be crucified!? This wasn’t supposed to happen… they had seen him work miracles over and over. In this moment, even though Jesus had told them these events would take place, they had no idea what needed to happen for the redemption of the world— but Jesus did.
“I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me.”—John 14:6
How many of you feel like your season is stuck on Friday and that Sunday is never coming for you? Friends, DO NOT LOSE HOPE… Sunday IS coming. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but your father has not left you, he is close. He is with you in your season. What looks like the end, is not even close . There is so much more to your story.
I wonder how many watched as Jesus drew his last breath and so humanly said,
“My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?”—Matthew 27:46
Was their faith even existent?
Had their world been so shaken by the events of that day that they couldn’t even begin to pray..
Sometimes I think we feel so alone and in the same season for so long that we begin to believe it is finished. God has left us here and we are stuck. But I believe, this is exactly when God is closest to us. Holding us in a spiritual haven— clinging to us and waiting for the moment that we accept all that he has to say about his children.
You are worthy. You are called. You are loved. You are not alone.
Friends, it Is not finished. Tell the enemy your Heavenly Father is standing next to you and he can go back to hell. “Devil, YOU’RE DONE, you better start running!” Start speaking LIFE into your situation. Speak HOPE into the hopeless. Speak LOVE into the moments when you feel unworthy.
GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH YOU! Your story is unfinished and only YOU can write the rest of the chapters. When you think you’re alone, remember the sea of souls that are standing with you. Hero’s of the faith and a God who is always on your side!
