Time stands still
-Used To This, Elevation Worship + Maverick City Music
Whenever I’m with You
No more important place to go
There’s no rush
Not in a hurry
It’s okay to take it slow
Minutes turning into hours
Doesn’t really matter
I just want You
You’re the only one I’m after
Spirit come in power
I just want You
I’m not sure what it is about the end of the year. Maybe it’s because I come to realize that in 8 short weeks, a new year will begin. So I begin to reflect on what the past year looks like.
What happened?
What changed?
What did I experience?
What didn’t I experience?
Before you think a thought that I myself would have by now, this is not a blog to write about my regret for 2022 or any overly ambitious New Years resolutions for 2023. There are very little things I regret in life, had I not made those decisions or stepped into those places, my life would likely not be where it is today. Also, Resolutions are great! but I believe they can begin at any point of the year, they don’t need the stroke of midnight on December 31st to tell them to start.
This is a reminder. It is 17 November 2022. We have 45 days left in the year. This is my hope for you this holiday season friends, and it is simple.
Be intentional about your peace.
We all love to sing, including myself, about the hustle and bustle of the holidays and grab our coffee and hum “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. We check off to-do lists and prep for guests to come to our homes, or if you’re like me, plan to travel to your loved ones. However, with all of the Christmas spirit feelings in the world, it is essential to make space for our own emotional and mental well-being.
What does this look like?
It means holding boundaries, saying “no” when it is going to overstretch you to a point of exhaustion. Taking deep breaths through out the days and physical inventory of how your body is feeling, if it’s not OK, find a space to decompress, even five minutes can be incredibly healing.
It means seeing the wonder in a conversation with a friend. Simple, authentic and vulnerable moments that leave us with full hearts and empty coffee cups.
This is the time of year when I see God in everything! Not to say that I don’t the rest of the year, but I find the ability to accept what Jesus is all about—simply, loving others, is Welcomed at Christmas time. To my core I believe we are all in this journey of life together. In search of hope, of joy, of peace.
Of experiencing something deeper than we can even wrap our minds around!
I find that this is when all of the magic and wonder is shared and felt and born in all of us. Right before the new year, and in the excitement of a new beginning, we experience that hand in hand as well, leaning on one another, all with the promise of a fresh start.
So friends, find joy, seek peace, experience hope. This season is magical and when you open your eyes to see the tiniest of details, you open your heart to come home.
