Flying our souls home 🌻🤍

The first day of fall was September 22nd this year, it was a Thursday, I woke up to be greeted by a brisk 48 degree morning, the smell of freshly cut grass, leaves falling harder by the minute.

Fall is my absolute favorite season.

Christmas is magical and It’s my favorite holiday but fall is by far my most loved season and let me tell you why!

There is a quote that I see every year when Fall begins and it has always resonated with my soul.
“The leaves are about to show us, just how beautiful change and letting go can be.”

Fall marks the beginning of change. A new season is coming, one that will appear on the outside, that life is dying.
When really…life on the inside, underneath it all, is going to rest so that it can show up in a few months roaring with the beauty it has created while it waited under the surface.
It’s such a beautiful concept to take in!

Something else that fascinates me about the end of the year and the colder seasons is that, geese fly south for the winter, it’s something that inspires me every time I see it happen overhead, like this past Saturday morning— what a gorgeous view it was!

Thoughts that came to mind when I saw them were, What a hard and brutal journey that must be…
How long do they have to prepare ?
What if one of the flock is injured?
Does it get left behind?
Do the others stay with it until it can make the journey?

Answers to these questions are something I may never know, until the next life at least.

What I do know about this season is this—
Hundreds of thousands of leaves fall. The air turns cold, things start to slow down as the elements are forced to accept change.
A change that comes every year and yet, somehow, I’m certain that someone in the lineup is always last to prepare for the hurdles that will follow the beautiful summer weather.

If we do not prepare our hearts, souls and minds for the change that will happen as we sail through the seasons of life, we will be left in a spiral of uncertainty and isolation.

So, I pose the question —
What if we could train our souls to rest in the south for the winter, in “the hard seasons” , the dark and cold of life… to rest and hibernate and not take life so tremendously serious. To be quiet and content.
Knowing that a change is on the horizon that is sure to knock you off your feet with roar that breathes life back into you.

It will come. Hold on, when the leaves fall and the trees become bare. Hold on because what is next is going to leave you with a newfound joy and a fresh new perspective.

Fly your souls home for the winter, Friends! 🌻🤍
